(WEST PERTH, ON) – On Monday March 20, 2017, shortly before 2:00 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a Pontiac car on Blanchard Street in the Municipality of West Perth (Mitchell).
Upon speaking to the driver, the officer smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath and saw signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for operating motor vehicle while impaired. He was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville for breath tests. He later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilyzer and registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 32-year-old Shannon HEWITT from Orangeville has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on April 3, 2017. He also received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
