Barrie Police were on patrol in the area of Dunlop St west when they observed a motor vehicle driving at a high rate of speed.
Police stopped and investigated the driver and found he had been drinking alcohol.
Police arrested the male for impaired driving and transported him to the Barrie Police Service where the accused provided breath samples.
The male provided samples that were almost 2 1/2 times the legal limit of 80mgs/100ml.
A 31 year old Barrie male was held till sober and released to a October court date.
