(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Tuesday September 15, 2010 shortly before 4 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to Line 21 west of Cromarty where a farmer had backed his combine into a utility pole causing a hydro line to snap and land on the combine.
The farmer, a 75 year old Exeter resident was able to use his cell phone to call police and obtain help. Police contacted Hydro One who immediately dispatched a crew to the scene. They shut off the power and removed the line. At 5:20 p.m. the farmer was able to safely exit his combine. There were no injuries as a result of this incident. Only a minor power outage was reported and damage to the combine was minimal.
