(HURON COUNTY, ON) – The 2012 Huron Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign has recently wrapped up. This five and a half week campaign started on November 24, 2012 and ended on January 2, 2013. Province wide there was a slight rise in the number of charges and suspensions handed out compared to 2011’s campaign. OPP officers charged 693 drivers with either impaired or over 80 compared to 682 the year before. 625 drivers were served with Warn Range Suspensions to motorists caught driving with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) between .05 and .08. In 2011, 583 drivers were served with Warn Range Suspensions.
We had hoped to see these numbers decrease significantly during this year’s campaign
