(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are currently at the scene of a fully engulfed barn fire located on St. Augustine Line between Hawkins Road and Nile Road. Officers attended the fire scene shortly after 7:00 a.m..
North Huron Fire Department members have been on scene all morning fighting the fire.
The initial estimate of loss includes 1300 pigs and very heavy damage to the pig barn. Dollar value of the damage is believed to be in excess of $800,000.
The cause of the fire is not known at this point however it is not believed to be suspicious.
St. Augustine Line between Hawkins Road and Nile Road remains closed. Please take alternate routes to avoid delays.
