(HURON EAST, ON) – An early morning traffic stop on October 30, 2016 has led to Impaired Driving & Over 80 charges against a Huron East resident. At approximately 2:47 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling in Egmondville when he observed the driver of a GMC Envoy make a wide turn from Nicholson Drive into a private driveway. A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment.
As a result he was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 43-year-old Daniel RILEY from Huron East has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was released from custody with a court date scheduled for December 5, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
