(LONDON, ON) – Members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 13-year member of the Huron County OPP following the investigation of a reported domestic incident on September 20, 2012.
OPP members from Huron County OPP had previously responded to a call for assistance at a home in the municipality of Bluewater in relation to a domestic situation. While attending the scene, investigators learned of an historic assault.
The accused was charged with one count of Assault, contrary to Section 265 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The officer is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Goderich on November 5, 2012 to answer to the charge.
The name of the officer charged is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim. The member has been placed on administrative duties until the matter has been resolved.
