Humane Society Checks One Parking Lot And Finds Dogs Locked In Three Cars

On June 14, 2016 at 6:35 p.m. the Guelph Police received a call about a dog locked in a parked car at the plaza on Speedvale Avenue and Stevenson Street. The Humane Society was then advised and attended. Once the Humane Society arrived on scene they located three separate vehicles with dogs left inside. The Humane Society was able to educate several people on the dangers of leaving dogs in cars in warm weather.

Remember:

A hot car is no place for a dog, even for a short period of time. Leave them at home.

Temperatures inside a parked car with the windows open and parked in shade can still rapidly reach dangerous levels for a dog, even on mildly warm days.

Many pets do die every year as a result of being left in parked cars during warm weather. It does not take long and yes it can happen to you!

There’s no good excuse to leave a pet in a vehicle unattended.
