Human Remains Found By River

Type: Found human Remains

Locations: Grand River (behind Fordview Court)

Incident: A person walking down by the Grand River on Monday around 630pm contacted police and advised that they had found human remains down by the river. Police attended to the west bank near the Silver Bridge.

The body (unknown if male or female at this time), which appears to have been in the area a long time was located. A police investigation perimeter was set up and the coroner was contacted. At this time it does not appear that foul play was involved in the death of the person.

Detectives from Major Crime attended and with the assistance of the Brantford Police Forensics Unit decided that having professionals from the Centre of Forensics Science in Toronto that deal with found human remains would be the best investigative tool in order to gather evidence and help learn the identity of the body. It is anticipated that the area will be cordoned off until at least late afternoon on Tuesday.
