HPSTS Emergency Training Week

Specialized transportation school bus drivers, monitors and operator
staff took part in an Emergency Evacuation training program during
School Bus Safety Week last week at the Murphy School Bus Yards in
Mitchell. This program is designed to train school bus personnel to
better assist students with a variety of needs, as well as prepare
them for potential emergencies. The training exercises included a
combination of hands on work and presented material.

The drivers and monitors gained practical experience by learning how
to cut seat belts, efficiently evacuate someone in a wheelchair and
learned how put out fires using a fire extinguisher. Accidents can
happen at any time and although we hope the Huron Perth Student
Transportation Service team will never need to put this training to
use it is good to know that our students will be even safer while
traveling to school.

This video provides a sample of the emergency training exercises.
