Howick Man Arrested For Drunk Driving – Name Released

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A 34-year-old from Howick has been charged with Impaired Driving following a traffic stop that took place west of Belmore yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 4:38 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed the driver of Chevrolet Malibu come to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road on Huron-Bruce Road near Schiestel Line. Upon stopping the driver to check on his condition the investigating officer observed open alcohol inside the vehicle as well it was noted the driver had been consuming some alcohol. Further investigation revealed the driver was displaying several signs that his ability to drive a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving and was transported to the Walkerton OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

34-year-old Jason KROTZ from Howick has been charged with Impaired Driving & Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 27, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and will be impounded for the week.
