(PERTH EAST, ON) – This afternoon, at approximately 2:17 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a two vehicle crash located on Perth Line 72 in the village of Newton.
The police investigation has determined a horse drawn buggy was travelling westbound on Perth Line 72 when the driver lost control of his inexperienced horse. The spooked horse went into the oncoming lane and was then struck by a Buick Regal that was also travelling westbound.
The buggy driver was ejected onto the roadway.
The horse drawn buggy driver, a 43-year-old male from Perth East was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The roadway has since re-opened for travel.
