Homicide Investigators Identify Deceased Found In Fire

Waterloo Region, Ontario– On Thursday December 17, 2015, at approximately 2:15 pm., Kitchener Fire Department and Waterloo Regional Police responded to 123 Westwood Drive, in the city of Kitchener.

The Kitchener Fire Department extinguished a residential fire initially, and located a deceased male within the building. As a result, Waterloo Regional Police Service Homicide detectives and forensics officers have continued to investigate during this past weekend conducting neighbourhood canvasses and processing evidence at the residence.

Following the completion of the post mortem on December 18, 2015, and the notification of immediate family, homicide investigators are now able to identify the decedent as Gavin Richard Daley, 23 years.

The post mortem has also confirmed investigators’ belief that he was the victim of homicide as signs of trauma were evident. This incident is not believed to be a random act.

Homicide detectives continue to probe the timeline and circumstances surrounding the death of Gavin Daley and are appealing for information from the community that may assist in the continuing investigation.
