(Innisfil, ON) On Friday, May 30, 2014, South Simcoe Police were called to 7 Recreation Drive in the Sandy Cove Acres neighbourhood of Innisfil. When officers arrived on scene, they found an 81 year old woman suffering from fatal injuries. A 54 year old Innisfil man located at the scene was arrested and later charged with Murder.
On Tuesday, June 7, 2016, Richard William DOWDELL pled guilty to Second Degree Murder in the death of Yvonne Brooks.
On August 16, 2016, DOWDELL was sentenced to life in prison, with no parole eligibility for 12 years.
The family of Yvonne Brooks expressed their appreciation to the members of the South Simcoe Police for their support during this investigation and trial process.
