On Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 9:30 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police received a report that a man had trespassed on a residential property in the area of Overlea Drive in Kitchener. The man was chased away by the homeowner and ran into a nearby parking lot on Highland Road West.
The suspect allegedly tried to strike the victim with a machete but was controlled by the homeowner and another man. One man suffered minor injuries in the altercation. Police arrived and arrested a 26-year-old man who was found to be in possession of stolen identification documents, a credit card and gift cards. He has been charged with Trespass at Night, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession of Break/Enter Instruments, Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000, Mischief under $5,000 and three counts of Possession of Identity Documents.
