Home Owner Interupts Rural Residential Break-In

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday October 12, 2011 at approximately 1:30 p.m. a rural homeowner while driving his farm tractor to his residence along Perth Road 178 west of Kurtzville observed a suspicious pickup truck parked near his residence.

As the homeowner approached his house and shop, he noticed that the door to his residence and shop were open. At that same moment a male exited the shop and ran to the pickup truck, jumped in the truck and sped away in an east bound direction on Perth Road 178. The home owner realizing that his home and shop had been broken into was able to obtain the licence plate number of the truck as it left the scene.

The home owner contacted the police and a subsequent investigation revealed that the doors to the shop and house had been forced open and both places had been searched. A wallet with a small amount of cash and personal identification was stolen as well as vehicle keys and an antique metal sign 18 X 18″ which has a red background with yellow trim and black letters stating “Master Feeds” and “Do Not Enter”.

A Check of the licence plate number revealed that the pickup truck used by the culprit had been stolen from a Waterloo St. address in the Town of Mitchell at approximately 6 a.m. on Wednesday October 12th. The pickup truck which has not been recovered is described as a white 1998 GMC SIERRA regular cab
