On July 31, 2013, during the early morning hours the Owen Sound Police Service responded to a report of a home invasion in the 1700 block of 4th Avenue East.
An earlier dispute between a group of individuals escalated when the group gained entry to the residence and proceeded to assault the male victim who had been inside his bedroom asleep. Following the incident the male victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.
Sergeant Rusk of the Owen Sound Police Services stated the individual male was specifically targeted by the group in retribution for perceived prior issues” and “the general public was not at risk from this situation”.
