(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a recent home invasion in rural west Ottawa and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects responsible.
On August 22, 2016, at approximately 4:30 pm, two suspects attended an address on Upper Dwyer Hill Rd near Ritchie Side Rd. A female occupant, in her early 60’s, was home alone when she heard a knock at the door. She then encountered two male suspects that had entered the home. One suspect was armed with a long-barrelled firearm. The second suspect made a demand for cash. The suspects stole an undisclosed quantity of cash, jewelry, the victim’s cell phone, and her vehicle keys. The two suspects then fled to the victim’s vehicle and drove off. There were no injuries. A short time later, the vehicle, a black Dodge Caravan, was reported as being driven erratically along Hwy 417 travelling eastbound toward Ottawa. It was found abandoned several hours later in a parking lot along Silver Seven Road in Kanata.
The suspects are described as follows:
#1-black male, 20-30 years old, 6’0” (183 cm), slim build. He was wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap. .
#2-black male, much shorter, approx. 5’6” (168 cm), slim build, and “dread-lock styled hair. He also wore dark clothing.
At this time there is no indication that the victim
