Peel – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police’s Special Victims Unit have charged a 57 year-old male in relation to multiple historic sexual assault investigations.
Investigators from the Special Victims Unit received information regarding two sexual assaults that occurred between 1992 and 1993. The teenage victims alleged that they were sexually assaulted in two separate incidents by the accused, who at the time was their hockey coach.
As a result of the investigation, 57 year old Douglas John RUSSELL of Brampton has been charged with two counts of Sexual Assault and two counts of Sexual Exploitation. RUSSELL has beenheld pending a Bail Hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 21, 2017
Douglas John Russell was an active hockey coach in Brampton and other communities around the province since the early 1980’s.
The Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit continues to investigate these incidents and believes that there may be more victims that have had contact with RUSSELL. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Police.
