Hit And Run Involving U-Haul

On October 13, 2016 at 2:15 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the intersection of Trussler Road and Huron Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Officers were on scene within seconds of the call and observed two vehicles involved in the collision, one being a U-Haul van and the other an SUV, which had rolled onto its side.

Witnesses of the collision told police that three occupants of the U-Haul had ran away from the collision into a nearby field. Containment was set up and a K9 unit called in. One man and two women were found hiding in the nearby corn field. In total, 16 criminal charges were laid against the three suspects. The driver was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Drive While Disqualified and Failing to Stop at the scene of an accident. There were no major injuries reported as a result of the collision.
