(Ottawa) On Friday the 12th of December 2014, at approx. 2325hrs, the Ottawa Police Service responded to a serious motor vehicle collision between a pick-up truck and passenger vehicle at the intersection of Heron Road and Riverside Drive. The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot but was arrested by patrol officers, with the assistance of K-9, shortly thereafter.
The other driver was transported to an area hospital by Ambulance after sustaining serious injuries and remains in hospital. The identity of the victim will not be released at this time.
The arrested driver, Kyle SENK, 25 years of age and of Ottawa, has been charged with the following offences:
Impaired operation of motor vehicle causing bodily harm CC 255(2)
Exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol while operating motor vehicle, causing accident with bodily harm CC 255(2.1)
Dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing bodily harm CC 249(1)(a)
Failure to remain at scene of accident CC 252(1)
The scene was held overnight for expert examination and roadways have since been reopened.
