(HURON EAST, ON) – A 32-year-old driver from Brantford is facing three criminal charges after he was taken into custody on August 30, 2015 for Impaired Driving. At 12:37 a.m. on August 30th Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) police were notified of a driver that just drove his car into a hydro pole located on Victoria Boulevard in Vanastra. Witnesses watched as the driver fled from the smashed up Dodge Charger.
Officers arrived on scene and patrolled the surrounding area searching for the driver. A short while later officers located a male suspect in the backyard of a nearby residence. Through investigation officers were able to determine the male was the suspect driver. Upon further investigation officers observed the male to be displaying several signs that he was impaired by alcohol. He was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and taken into custody. He was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 32-year-old Mark MOORHOUSE from Brantford has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Novice Driver – Drive with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Above Zero and Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on October 15, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the rental vehicle he was driving has been impounded for seven days.
