The Guelph Police Service is investigating two incidents that occurred on Scottsdale Drive that resulted in criminal driving charges.
On October 20, 2015 at 3:07 p.m. a Kia Sportage was southbound on Scottsdale Road and struck the rear of a Ford Focus that had slowed for turning traffic ahead at Cole Road. The driver of the Kia stopped briefly and then fled the scene southbound on Scottsdale Drive. A short time later that same Kia was southbound on Scottsdale Drive. As it approached the intersection of Kortright Road West it swerved into the northbound lanes and struck a Ford and a Toyota Matrix that were stopped in the southbound left turn lane. The Kia was disabled by the damage caused at this second collision scene.
No injuries were sustained during the first collision. The three involved drivers in the second series of collisions sustained minor injuries but did not require treatment.
Adrian Derrick, the driver of the Kia, a 26-year-old male from Mississauga was arrested at the scene and has been charged with fail to remain at scene of accident and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 8, 2015.
