On October 18, 2013 at 1:36 a.m., the Guelph Police observed a midsized pickup truck strike the entrance sign to a business on Woodlawn Road West. The vehicle was then observed travelling through the private parking lot of the business at a high rate of speed and then entering the roadway of Woodlawn Road West and into eastbound lanes striking an eastbound motor vehicle head on. The driver of the motor vehicle exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the industrial section of Silvercreek Parkway North. A canine track was conducted but yielded negative results. An occupant of the second motor vehicle had complained of a sore neck but refused medical attention. There was extensive damage to both involved vehicles.
