High Winds Keep Emergency And Repair Crews Busy

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) On Monday April 16, 2012, Perth County OPP officers and other emergency personnel were kept busy responding to high wind related calls throughout the county.

OPP officers responded to approximately 10 calls for service involving debris on highways, road signs blown loose from their posts, downed power lines and tree limbs across roadways.

The most serious incident involved a house fire on Line 67 between Road 124 and Road 129 (south east of Milverton). The fire, which did not result in injuries or loss of life, did cause the complete destruction of the rural home. High winds made it a difficult blaze for the Township of Perth East Fire Department to fight. Line 67 between Road 124 and Road 129 was closed from 3 p.m. Monday April 16th until 6 a.m. Tuesday April 17th.
