High speeds on Watson Parkway a concern

On April 10, 2014, the Guelph Police were monitoring speeds of motor vehicles with a stationary radar device on Watson Parkway North due to residents in the area complaining of vehicles travelling at excessive speeds. Shortly before 9:00 a.m., as school children were waiting to cross the street, police clocked a vehicle travelling at 99 km/hr in the posted 50km/hr zone. A 40-year-old Mississauga female was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for speeding with a $359.00 fine and four demerit points. The driver was 1 km/hr away from having her vehicle impounded for 7 days and her licence seized for 7 days under the Provincial Street Racing legislation.
