(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Thursday April 21, 2016, around 3 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were contacted by a citizen who was following a person who had just removed items from his vehicle.
The citizen’s vehicle was located on the Pizza Delight parking-lot along Wallace Ave North in Listowel when he observed a female rummaging through it. He ran towards his vehicle and confronted the female. The female ran off in a southbound direction towards the Tim Horton’s restaurant, where OPP officers arrested her a short time later. The female was also found to be in possession of items that had been stolen from a local store.
42-year-old Tammy WETTLAUFER of the Municipality of North Perth has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences; “Theft under $5,000 from motor vehicle”, “Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000”, and “fail to comply with conditions of undertaking given by officer in charge”. She appeared in bail court in Stratford on Friday April 22, 2016 where she was released on a Recognizance of bail. She is required to appear on May 18, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel where she will have to answer to the charges.
The Perth County OPP urges all residents to lock their vehicles and to watch out for suspicious people or activity in their neighbourhoods. Call police immediately if something suspicious is observed, don’t delay; your information may help solve a crime.
