On Saturday July 30, just before 11:00 am, a citizen saw a man on the property of home located in the 900 block of 2 nd Avenue West. The citizen observed the man attempting to steal a bicycle.
Ironically the house is located directly beside the police station. When police arrived, the brazen daytime thief was attempting to disguise himself by standing behind a large spruce tree on the front lawn. The lawn is only about 3 metres by 3 metres wide, so it wasn’t a long walk.
Police investigated the allegations observed by the citizen and as a result the man was arrested for possession of stolen property. Also in his possession were duffle bags that contained a small quantity of marihuana and an assortment of items that he gathered from the front lawn of the home-owner and claimed as his own.
Police determined that the man was previously bound by two criminal court probation orders and a recognizance, of which he was in direct contravention. The Owen Sound resident faces the following charges:
1) Possession of property obtained by crime
2) Possession of a schedule II drug (Marihuana)
3) Breach of recognizance
4) Four counts of breach of probation
