(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Two thieves had to abandon a stolen pickup truck after the owner of the truck gave chase to thwart the theft.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 14th, 2016 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the area of Martin Line and Brandon Road after receiving a call from the truck owner. Officers learned the owner of an older model Dodge Ram pickup truck was milking cows at his Moncrieff Road farm when he heard the sound of his truck engine revving up. He immediately looked over to the area where the truck was parked and he watched as the pickup raced off his property travelling westbound on Moncrieff Road. He quickly jumped into another truck and gave chase. The thieves proceeded northbound on Martin Line until they stalled the stolen truck and abandoned it in a field.
After abandoning the truck, one of the suspects hopped into an escape vehicle that was travelling with the stolen vehicle. The owner described this suspect as being a male in his early 20’s and the escape vehicle was described as a grey, late model, Ford F-150. It was last seen travelling westbound on Brandon Road towards Belgrave.
Huron OPP would like to speak with any person with information regarding this attempted stolen vehicle occurrence. Huron OPP investigators can be contacted by calling 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314.
