(Innisfil, ON) On Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 5:00 p.m., South Simcoe Police were called to a two vehicle collision on Church Street in Cookstown. After the collision, one of the vehicles fled the scene. A witness followed the suspect as he drove east on County Road 89, and confronted him when he stopped at a motel near Highway 400.
The witness told the suspect to return to the scene, but the suspect again fled eastbound, abandoning his vehicle at a nearby shopping mall. Responding officers located the vehicle, but the suspect had fled on foot. At 7:30 p.m., the suspect was spotted walking east on County Road 89. He was arrested and taken to the station for investigation.
A 48 year old Alliston man has been charged with Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident. He will appear in criminal court in April.
