Hero Defends Community By Chasing Down And Wrestling Thief – 24 Year Old Arrested

(Innisfil, ON) South Simcoe Police are crediting an Alcona man with making an arrest overnight.

Just before 4:00 a.m., a Rose Lane man saw a suspect enter a car and steal a wallet. He tried to apprehend the suspect but the bandit broke free and ran, with the citizen in pursuit. The suspect was able to outrun the good samaritan, but was later spotted again and held for police.

While he was wrestling with the suspect, a van pulled up and a second man pushed the citizen off the suspect. That man fled, and South Simcoe Police officers would like to speak to him to resolve his involvement. The arrested man, a 24 year old from Innisfil, was charged with Trespass by Night, Theft Under $5000, and Possession of Stolen Property. He was also charged with being Intoxicated in a Public Place. He will appear in court in July.
