On September 21, 2016 at 4:25 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a robbery at the intersection of Fischer Hallman Road and Victoria Street South in Kitchener. A man approached a woman standing at the bus shelter and demanded she hand over her cell phone. The suspect grabbed the womans backpack and a short struggle occurred. A cyclist who was passing by at the time stopped to help and, in doing so, was assaulted by the suspect who tried to take his bicycle. The female victim left the shelter before police arrived and boarded a bus travelling South on Fischer Hallman Road. No one was injured. A 33-year-old Kitchener man has been arrested and charged with 2 counts of robbery.
