An 18 year-old Owen Sound male is in police custody on numerous charges following the actions of two citizens early Thursday morning.
Shortly after midnight, the occupants of a home in the 1100 block of 12th Street East observed two males going from property to property checking unlocked cars for change and other valuables.
The 27 year old male occupant who witnessed the incident contacted police. He then exited the residence and confronted the two males. The one male fled the scene but the second male was stopped by the victim. A struggle ensued in which the victim was assaulted. The victim was able to gain control of the man.
The victim’s mother approached the two and proceeded to call police. She was kicked by the accused. Police arrived on scene and took custody of the male. No significant injuries resulted in either assault.
The accused was found to be in possession of stolen property. He was also found to be on probation for prior convictions.
The man is being held in custody pending a bail hearing this morning. He faces four counts of prowl by night, two counts of assault, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with probation.
