Helmetless19 Year Old Cyclist Suffers Serious Injuries

On Thursday June 16, 2016 just shortly after 8:00pm, the Hamilton Police Service responded to the area of Cootes Drive and Sanders Boulevard after receiving reports that a cyclist was struck by a vehicle.

Hamilton Fire Department and EMS were also on scene and rendered medical assistance to the cyclist.

The cyclist, a 19 years old female from Hamilton has been transported to the hospital with serious injuries. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Speed and alcohol was not a factor for the driver involved in the incident.

Detectives in the Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Unit remain on scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident reported yesterday evening.
