Helmetless ATV Driver Arrested For Drunk Driving – WARWICK

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A 29-year-old driver from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is facing several driving related charges after police attempted to pull him over this past weekend in Auburn.

Shortly before 8:00 p.m. on June 10, 2017 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) travelling northbound on Hardwood Line. The officer noted both the driver and passenger were not wearing helmets so a traffic stop was initiated.

The passenger immediately got off the machine however the driver took off from the officer. The ATV driver fled into a farmer’s field however within a few minutes officers found the male nearby on foot.

Upon speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. As a result, a roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a Fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, the driver, Bradley WARWICK, 29 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Drive Motor With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Drive While Disqualified, Fail to Stop When Signaled and Fail to Wear Proper Helmet. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for August 14, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich and he received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
