Heather Urquhart Assaults Police

2 OFFICERS INJURED WHILE ARRESTING FEMALE

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 5:11 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault near the Tiny Tot Park in Kincardine. A male was calling police to report concerns over mistreatment of children when he was shoved by the woman he was calling about. The woman left the area in a Beige Jeep prior to police arrival.

The South Bruce OPP received another call at 5:45 pm about a woman in a Beige Jeep at the Anglican Church parking lot that was acting strangely. On their arrival the officers approached the female driver who stated yelling at them “to back off”. She continued to yell and became combative with officers as she was taken into custody.

Two officers sustained minor injuries during the confrontation. Neither officer required medical treatment.

The 2 children she was travelling with are in the care of Child and Family Services.

Police have charged 42-year-old Heather URQUHART of Guelph with 2 counts of Assault Police, Resist Peace Officer and Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She is being held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today at 2:00 p.m.
