2 OFFICERS INJURED WHILE ARRESTING FEMALE
(KINCARDINE, ON) – On Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 5:11 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault near the Tiny Tot Park in Kincardine. A male was calling police to report concerns over mistreatment of children when he was shoved by the woman he was calling about. The woman left the area in a Beige Jeep prior to police arrival.
The South Bruce OPP received another call at 5:45 pm about a woman in a Beige Jeep at the Anglican Church parking lot that was acting strangely. On their arrival the officers approached the female driver who stated yelling at them “to back offâ€Â. She continued to yell and became combative with officers as she was taken into custody.
Two officers sustained minor injuries during the confrontation. Neither officer required medical treatment.
The 2 children she was travelling with are in the care of Child and Family Services.
Police have charged 42-year-old Heather URQUHART of Guelph with 2 counts of Assault Police, Resist Peace Officer and Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She is being held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today at 2:00 p.m.
