(DERBY TWP, ON) – On December 22, 2014 at 5:56 p.m., the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle crash on Concession 5 in Derby Township. Officers arrived to find a Northbound Black Volkswagen Jetta and a Southbound Blue Toyota Matrix had hit head on.
There was 1 occupant in each vehicle. The driver of the Volkswagen, 39 year old Jamie WITTMAN of Carrick Township was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, 64 year old Dennis MYATT of Owen Sound was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit is assisting the Grey County OPP with this incident.
Concession 5 was closed for the protection of emergency responders. It has since re-opened to traffic.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
