Head-on Collision Claims Life Of Meaford Woman

(Wellington North Township, ON) On Tuesday August 27, 2013 at approximately 9:48am Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a serious head-on motor collision involving two vehicles on County Road 14 just south of Highway 89 in Wellington North Township.

Officers responded along with Guelph-Wellington and Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) as well as the Mount Forest Fire Department. Investigation revealed that a north bound 2012 Mazda 3 collided head-on with a south bound 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe on County Road 14.

The male driver and lone occupant of the Mazda 3 was transported to Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest and subsequently transported to Hamilton General Hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries.

The female driver of the Hyundai was transported to Louise Marshall Hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries.

A female passenger that was in the Hyundai was transported to Louise Marshall Hospital by land ambulance and was later transported by air ambulance to Hamilton General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

There was dense fog in the area at the time of the collision.

West Region OPP Collision Reconstructionists attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

County Road 14 was temporarily closed at that location and has since re-opened.

The investigation is still on-going at this time.

The Wellington County OPP is asking anyone that may have witnessed this collision to please call 1-888-310-1122. Police are also asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing German Shepard mix-breed dog that answers to the name of Sidney. The dog was in one of the vehicles involved and fled the scene following the collision.
