(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 66 year old female driver has been arrested and charged by Huron OPP following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint stop. On March 1, 2013 at approximately 9:40 p.m. a black Ford Explorer entered the R.I.D.E checkpoint that was situated at the intersection of Parr Line and Mill Road. Officers detected the driver had been drinking alcohol; further investigation revealed she was displaying signs of impairment by alcohol. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. She provided two samples of her breath; both were over the legal limit.
As a result, Hazel SIMPSON, 66, from Bluewater has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. She has a court appearance scheduled for April 8, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Goderich. She received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and her motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
