Have a safe and law-abiding return to campus!

(Ottawa)— As post-secondary students prepare for another year of studies, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) will be working with its City, university and community partners to help ensure everyone has a safe and law-abiding return to campus.

“We will be working in coordination with City By-Law and OC Transpo to ensure that all students have a safe return to campus life,” said S/Sgt. Sam Fawaz of Central District. “Our goal is to keep everyone safe as we start another school year and to ensure everyone can enjoy the community they live in.”

“Students should be aware of City noise bylaws. We also want to remind people to never leave your drink unattended and to look out for each other at campus events,” said Fawaz

This year’s efforts will include increased police presence around campuses across the city, education visits by volunteers and City partners, coordination with OC Transpo to enforce open-carrying of alcohol laws, along with standard enforcement city-wide.

The focus will be on complaints made to police and By-Law Services regarding disturbances, noise, public intoxication, drug use and other nuisance issues.
