Harriet DUYNISVELD – Race Motor Vehicle

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) –On Monday April 20, 2015 shortly before the noon hour, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols along Perth Road 130 south of Avonton, when a fast moving north bound vehicle was observed.

The officer activated the police radar and locked in the vehicle’s speed in excess of 50 km/h above the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Harriet DUYNISVELD (54) of Thames Centre was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”.

She is to appear at Stratford Court in May 2015, to answer to this charge. Her driver’s licence was suspended for seven days. In addition, her vehicle was towed from the scene and is impounded for a week.

The Perth County OPP wants to remind motorists that drivers who engage in high risk driving behavior put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it difficult for drivers to react to sudden changes, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision, and the more likely that serious injuries or death will occur.
