(ST.MARYS, ON) On Wednesday March 13, 2013, at approximately 11:45 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) received a call from a London resident who was visiting in St.Marys and reported the theft of her red 4×4 Chevy Silverado pickup truck.
The victim reported observing a male get into her pickup truck which she had been left unlocked with the keys inside, on the driveway of the Jones St. East residence in St.Marys. While calling the police she saw her truck being driven away in a south bound direction on King St. South.
An immediate police broadcast resulted in one of the O.P.P. St.Marys patrol officers to spot the truck being driven eastbound on Queen St. East. The truck was followed north onto Road 122 north east of St.Marys, where the it was driven onto a field and became stuck in the mud. The male suspect ran from the truck in attempts to evade police. The officer pursued the suspect on foot for approximately 20 minutes before catching up to the male and placing him under arrest. The truck was returned to the victim undamaged.
Harley SCHNEIDER (35) of the Township of Perth East has been charged with fail to stop for police, theft of motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, breach of probation, possession of schedule 1 methamphetamineÂ, and with driving while under suspension. He is scheduled to appear at Stratford Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Thursday March 14, 2013, to answer to these charges.
