Handgun Call Leads To Arrest Of 15 Year Old

As a result of this below investigation a firearm has been seized. Detectives have now charged a 15 year old male youth from Hamilton.

Charges: Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Point Firearm, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The 15 year old male has been released to the care and supervision of his guardian and he will appear in court at a later date to answer to these charges.

There is no indication that this incident is linked to any other crimes in Hamilton.

There is no further information to be released.

Police continue to remind the public to report any suspected criminal activity in their neighborhood.

Police investigate in the area of Wentworth Street North and Wilson Street

On Monday June 13, 2016, just shortly before 10:00am, members of the Hamilton Police Service were dispatched to the area of Wentworth Street North and Wilson Street after receiving reports of a person with a handgun.

It was indicated that there was a disturbance involving an unknown number of people and that police were called.

Police worked with staff at Cathedral High School and the school was placed in a hold and secure until the situation was resolved. The school has since lifted its hold and secure.

Police have one person in custody and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

There are no current threats to public safety.
