Handgun and crack cocaine seized during warrant execution on Draper Avenue

(Ottawa) On Friday, January 23, 2015, the Ottawa Police Service Drug Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant in the 2600 block of Draper Avenue. The warrant execution was the culmination of a week long investigation into drug trafficking out of an area residence – involving individuals known to the Guns and Gangs Unit – that resulted in the arrest of 5 people.

Included in the items seized were:

One 9 mm Girsan Yavuz handgun with 10 rounds of ammunition.
45.6 grams of Crack Cocaine valued at $9,120.00.
4 grams of cocaine valued at $400.00.
10.5 grams of Cannabis marihuana valued at $105.00.
$3,195.00 in Canadian currency
As a result of the investigation, Haider AFFAT, 26 years old (m), Grace M’PEMO, 18 years old (m), Richard WALLACE, 31 years old (m), James GERRIOR, 46 years old (m) and Margaret GERRIOR, 45 year old (f), all from Ottawa are charged jointly with:

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (crack cocaine) contrary to Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) contrary to Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) contrary to Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of a Loaded Regulated Firearm contrary to Sec 95(1) of the Criminal Code
Careless Storage of a Firearm contrary to Sec 86(1) of the Criminal Code
Unlicensed Person Possess Restricted Weapon contrary to Sec 91(2) of the Criminal Code
Possession of a Weapons Dangerous contrary to Sec 88(1) of the Criminal Code
Possession of Firearm Obtained by Crime contrary to Sec 96(1) of the Criminal Code
Haider AFFAT was also charged with:

Possession of a Ammunition while Prohibited x 4 contrary to Sec 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 contrary to Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code
Grace M’PEMO was charged with:

Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 contrary to Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code
Possession of a Ammunition while Prohibited x 2 contrary to Sec 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
Breach of Probation contrary to Sec 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
Richard WALLACE was charged with:

Possession of a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) contrary to Sec 4(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Fail to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to Sec 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code
Also placed on an Immigration hold for the Canadian Border Services Agency as he is in Canada illegally
James GERRIOR was charged alone with:

Possession of a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) contrary to Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
James GERRIOR and Margaret GERRIOR were held for Show Cause hearings and are scheduled to appear in court on January 28th, 2015.

Richard WALLACE was held for a Show Cause hearing and is next scheduled to appear in court of January 29th, 2015.

Haider AFFET and Grace M’PEMO were held for Show Cause hearings and are next scheduled to appear in court on February 2nd, 2015.
