Hamilton Man Arrested And Charged After Setting A Fire To A Mosque

On Wednesday September 14th, 2016, just shortly before 11:30pm, Hamilton Police officers were dispatched to the Ibrahim Jame Mosque located at 778 King Street East after receiving reports of a Fire.

It was indicated that a man was witnessed setting a fire at the entrance of the Mosque, prior to him running away.

It was indicated that members of the public were able to immediately extinguish the fire, prior to the arrival of the Hamilton Fire Department.

The suspect was followed by witnesses who alerted the officers to his location.

Officers located the suspect in the area and arrested him.

This is all of the information that is available at this time as the Ontario Fire Marshal now has carriage of this investigation.

CHARGED: A 34 year old man from Hamilton

CHARGES: Arson – Damage to Property

The man’s bail has been opposed and he will appear before the courts.
