(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A traffic stop on Sunday, January 22, 2017 has resulted in a future court date for a Central Huron resident. At approximately 12:19 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a Hyundai turn off of Huron Road onto Parr Line. Upon closer observation it was noticed the rear licence plate was not functioning. As a result the motor vehicle was stopped.
Upon speaking with the male driver police learned the driver had a suspended driver’s licence. As a result he was placed under arrest for driving while under suspension. A search incident to arrest was completed and during the search the investigating officer located and seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
As a result, Derek HUNT 35 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, Driving While Under Suspension, Improper Number Plate Light and Drive Motor Vehicle in Contravention of Conditions.
He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 6, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
