Guns and Hoses Benefit Hockey Game

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday evening February 25, 2012 police officers and fire fighters battled it out in Listowel during the 1st annual fundraising hockey game for Victim Services of Perth County.

The emergency services all star players hit the ice of the Listowel Memorial Arena at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the game, from 6 – 7:15 p.m. the public enjoyed an open skate with members of the Listowel Cyclones as well as other local celebrities.

The fast paced game between police officers (Perth County OPP, Stratford Police and EMS workers) and firefighters from stations around The County commenced following the ceremonial puck dropping by Fire Chief Ed Smith and North Perth Major Julie Behrns.

The sell out crowd of over 500 in attendance were able to enjoy watching the officers with guns out play and out score the firefighters with hoses. The final score of 5 to 2 was a sweet victory for the police and displayed the need for more off-season off-ice training for our local fire fighters. The real winner of the game however, is Victim Services of Perth County who will use the funds raised to assist victims within our community.

All players involved are looking forward to a re-match next year.
