Guelph Police Weekend Report

  1. Break and enters

    On April 24, 2015 at 6:10 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Silvercreek Parkway South apartment to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime during the day through the unlocked front door and stole cigarettes and money.

    On April 25, 2015 at 9:54 a.m., the Guelph Police went to GCVI High School on Paisley Road to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) smashed a window to gain entry sometime overnight. Some property damage inside the building is reported.

    2. Mischief at Zehrs – arrest

    On April 26, 2015 at 12:00 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Zehrs located on Eramosa Road after an intoxicated male allegedly smashed a bottle in the wine store after being refused service. Police located the man outside the store and he was arrested.

    John McNeil, 54 years of Guelph has been charged with mischief under $5,000. He will appear in court on June 5, 2015.

    3. Impaired drivers arrested over the weekend

    On April 24, 2015 at 9:54 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Fife Road. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

    Ryan Sachs, 34 years of Kitchener has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on June 12, 2015.

    On April 26, 2015 at 1:20 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Gordon Street near downtown. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

    Frederick Clarke, 48 years of Tiny has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on June 9, 2015.

    On April 26, 2015 at 10:14 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle in the area of Wellington Street after receiving the report that the driver may be impaired. Police spoke with the male driver and determined that he had been drinking alcohol and he was arrested.

    Sayaveth Khotphoythone, 59 years of Hamilton has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on May 12, 2015.

    4. Theft from cars

    Over the weekend the Guelph Police received five reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Glasgow Street North, Stone Road West, Stephanie Drive, Watson Road and Water Street.

    This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.     5. Property damage

    On April 26, 2015 at 9:30 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Clair Road to investigate the report of property damage. Sometime overnight, a flag on the site of a temple that is under construction was taken down and damaged.

    6. Guelph Police Open House

    Every year, for one day only, we open our doors to the public to showcase all our services! Bring your family and friends and join us on May 9th for our Annual Open House. Doors open at 9am, but don’t miss the action at 10 a.m., we’ll have our Canine Unit demonstration followed by our Tactical Unit at 11 a.m. Other fun activities include the SafetyMobile Driving Simulator, Guelph Police history table, recruiting booth as well as many community partner tables.

    We will also have a drug bring back station where we invite you to return expired or unfinished prescriptions.
