Guelph Police Weekend Report

Robbery

On July 4, 2015 at approximately 8:45 p.m. an attempted robbery occurred at Stone Road Mall when a store clerk was approached by a lone male brandishing a weapon demanding money. No cash was turned over and the male was last seen heading in the direction of Williams Coffee Pub.

Investigators have retrieved some video evidence from the area, and know that there were a number of members of the public who were near the Williams Coffee Pub at this time. Investigators are looking to speak with any members of the public who may have been in that area and may have made observations of suspicious activity by a male.

Suspect: Male white, over 6 feet, skinny, dressed in dark clothing.

2. Drive over 80 mg – arrest

On July 3, 2015 at 4:07 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a collision at Gordon Street and Heritage Street. Police spoke with one of the involved drivers and determined that he had been drinking alcohol. A demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Jekashdon Reddick, 23 years of Ajax has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on July 17, 2015.

3. Drive over 80 mg – arrest

On July 4, 2015 at 2:00 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the car on Grange Street. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Joshua Sproul, 27 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on July 17, 2015.

4. Impaired driver

On July 4, 2015 at 3:40 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the car at 4:40 a.m. parked in the plaza at Paisley Street and Imperial Road. A female was asleep in the driver’s seat. Police spoke with the driver and she was arrested.

Kelly Chua, 19 years of Guelph has been charged with care and control impaired driving, care and control over 80 mg. She was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with novice driver BAC above zero and young driver BAC above zero. She will appear in court on July 21, 2015.

5. Cyclist struck

On July 4, 2015 at 11:38 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Woodlawn Road at Arrow Road to investigate a cyclist/motor vehicle collision. It is alleged that the motor vehicle turned and struck the cyclist. The cyclist received minor injuries. The driver was charged with turn not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.

6. Break and enter

On July 3, 2015 at 8:56 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a vacant church located on Kortright Road West for a reported break and enter. The culprit(s) entered through a rear door and set off a fire extinguisher.

7. Commercial motor vehicle blitz

On July 3, 2015, members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, Halton Regional Police Service, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Finance and the Guelph Police Service partnered together and conducted a joint forces commercial motor vehicle campaign within the City of Guelph. During the campaign 59 vehicles were escorted to the inspection site and inspected for safety compliance. 36 of these vehicles were taken out of service for safety deficiencies and 2 sets of plates were removed and the vehicles were transferred to status unfit. A total of 79 charges were laid with fines totaling over $12,000.
