Drug arrests
The Guelph Police Drug Unit received information which led to an investigation into three people trafficking Cocaine and Heroin from 105 Water Street. Surveillance over a two day period led to grounds to believe the three parties were involved together trafficking controlled substances from this residence and utilizing a vehicle to traffic as well. Two CDSA search warrants were sought and granted to search the residence and the vehicle in question on September 18, 2015. Further, an arrest was made after officers observed what they believed to be a drug deal with one of the suspects in this case and a purchaser. The arrested purchaser was found to be in possession of approximately $60.00 worth of cocaine.
On September 18, 2015 the three suspects were arrested and the two search warrants were executed simultaneously. In total 22.55 grams of Heroin worth $5,637, 8.23 grams of cocaine worth $823 as well as $2,230 cash was seized. Also seized were seven digital scales, packaging, a debt list, ammunition and numerous cell phones.
Shawn Yetman, 51 years of Guelph has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance, breach of recognizance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime. He will appear in court on September 21, 2015.
Kimberly Runstadtler, 42 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime. She will appear in court on September 21, 2015.
Kyle Benoit, 23 years of Guelph has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He will appear in court on October 2, 2015.
Todd Welch, 47 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on September 25, 2015.
Grenade found at Wet/Dry facility
On September 18, 2015 at 3:50 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the Wet / Dry Facility at 110 Dunlop Drive after staff advised that they had located what they believed to be a live grenade underneath a dumpster. Police secured the area and called in the Explosive Disposal Unit of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. It was determined the grenade was not functional, and was later destroyed by the EDU. There was no damage or injuries as a result of this incident.
R.I.D.E.
On September 19/20, 2015 between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a R.I.D.E. program in the City of Guelph. 620 vehicles were checked by officers with 18 roadside screening tests being administered. Police issued five 3 day suspensions, one 24 hour suspension and 3 Provincial Offence Notices. One driver registered a fail on the Approved Screening Device and was arrested. A second driver refused to provide a sample into the Approved Screening Device at the roadside and was arrested. Both vehicles were impounded for seven days.
Federico, Diodati, 46 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80mg. He will appear in court on October 6, 2015.
Johal Sukhpreep, 18 years of Oakville has been charged with refuse to provide breath sample.
Guelph Police would like to remind drivers that between now and the holiday season they will continue to conduct random spot checks for persons driving under the influence of alcohol. Registering breath samples over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mls of blood will result in an immediate 90 day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension. Convictions for Impaired Driving and Driving with Over 80 mgs will both result in a minimum of 12 month driving prohibition.
Impaired driver
On September 20, 2015 at 2:19 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of York Road and Victoria Road for the report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle and driver were located travelling on York Road and a traffic stop was conducted. The male driver was spoken to and subsequently arrested.
Khaja, Fardin, 27 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80mg. He will appear in court on October 6, 2015.
Drive over 80mg – arrest
On September 20, 2015 at 2:19 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of Woodlawn Road West for the report of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle and driver were located in a plaza parking lot off Woodlawn Road. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.
Adrian Curtis, 19 years of Clinton has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on October 6, 2015.
Break and enter to cash store
On September 20, 2015 at 9:08 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a cash store located on Woodlawn Road for a break and enter. Sometime between September 18 and 19, culprit(s) gained entry after initially entering the neighbouring business. Over $50,000 in cash was stolen.

University officer assaulted
On September 18, 2015 at 11:45 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the University of Guelph to assist officers with a male causing them issues. It is alleged that a University officer was assaulted when he tried to deal with an on campus situation. The responsible male was arrested and the officer required stitches.
A 17-year-old Hamilton male has been charged with assault police and resist arrest. He will appear in court on October 28, 2015.
Enforcement initiative targets unlicensed transportation providers
On September 19, 2015 the Guelph Police conducted an enforcement initiative targeting transportation providers who are operating within the city without a license authorizing them to do so.
As a result of investigations conducted by officers, five individuals were charged with the offence of provide transportation for compensation without authority contrary to section 39.1(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
Investigations also revealed that these defendants were providing their services on behalf of UBER.
These drivers were issued summonses to appear in the Guelph Provincial Offences Court at the end of October.
Persons operating transportation services within the City of Guelph are reminded that at the current time, the only drivers authorized to transport customers for compensation must possess a valid taxicab license issued under the authority of the Guelph Police Services Board Taxi Cab Bylaw.
This bylaw ensures compliance with standards that include proof of adequate liability insurance, semi-annual vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical fitness, and annual records checks for all drivers. The Bylaw also details a Code of Conduct for drivers licensed under its’ authority.
There are currently three taxi cab companies authorized to operate in the City of Guelph.
Citizens are encouraged to consider the lack of oversight, which is designed to ensure their personal safety, when they hire a vehicle operated by an unlicensed/unauthorized transportation provider.
Attempt break and enter
On September 18, 2015 at 10:34 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Kent Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) attempted to enter through a basement window. No entry was gained but the window and frame was damaged.

Theft of construction equipment
On September 18, 2015 at 7:21 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a location on Speedvale Avenue West for the report of a theft. Two large pieces of construction equipment, a skid steer and a hammer that had been left on the side of the roadway overnight were stolen.

Theft from cars
Over the weekend, the Guelph Police received eleven reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Wyndham Street, Westmount Road, Macdonell Street, Guelph Street, Imperial Road North, Steffler Drive, Robertson Drive, Bright Lane, College Avenue West And two on Cole Road.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
